First Flight Event at the Fliegerwerkstatt

Many helping hands made our First Flight Event a great event with over 100 guests.

In the morning, the Alfred Nobel School group helped with the final preparations so that the event could start at 3 pm.

By Umut, Julian and Hadi (f. l.), the First Flight Event was opened professionally and humorously.

Opportunity to present themselves was also given to the leisure groups Parkour and Roobots, who meet every Saturday in the halls.

Our Parkour group showed an impressive acrobatics show, at the Roobots (Berlin Mindstorms Robot Club) you could learn about the programming skills of 8-14 year olds and in a joint action, all guests were invited to participate.

At point 5 p.m. it was time: the Flight Simulator 737 started to his First Flight!

First Flight   Dresden – Leipzig

In the cockpit, co-pilot Aviare’s designer Ruben Schikora and Rolls-Royce volunteer engineer, Holger Litzenberg, accompanied by our three teenagers, Hadi, Julian and Umut, and founder of the social return foundation, André Wall.

All guests were able to experience the flight via live broadcast.

An, as promised, two free flights were raffled among the guests!

Nora and Roman picked two lucky winners.

The video team recorded all moments in image and film: Josie, Merjem, Nora and Luise with Dirk Dreissen (f.l.) and our presenters Hadi and Julian.

Work on the simulator is entering the last phase

After all cables have been laid in the simulator and connected to the computer interfaces, the cable harness is sorted and laid in a self-made cable duct bridge.

In this way, the cables are also protected from the next flood at the same time!

From Dibond plates, the panel of the simulator cab is cut and screwed to the aluminum carrier.

Soon, the Boeing 737 cockpit will disappear completely in the “black box”.

Cooperation with the Alfred Nobel School goes into the third year

Since September, 18 pupils of the Alfred Nobel School have been working in the aviation workshop three days a week. The so-called Praxislerngruppe consists of 9th and 10th graders, who are given the chance to get a different way to the successful school leaving certificate, because the regular retraining for these young people for various reasons does not lead to success.

At the beginning of each school year it is difficult for the pupils to see this out-of-school place as an opportunity: they feel rather deprecated than valued. Each individual has a potential to discover. The aviation workshop offers them a space of experience to develop self-confidence and self-esteem, which is promoted by successful work with a visible result.

The small picture gallery shows the “everyday life” in the aviation workshop, which is geared to the needs of the young people. The participation system, which also grants each young person a share of the sales proceeds of manufactured products and work, is a new feature, depending on the proportion of work involved. The transparency of one’s own share of the overall result promotes the assumption of responsibility for one’s own actions. For all to cook is just as valuable as the production of a mill game, which can be sold at the end on the market. Playing together is just as valuable as concentrated individual work.

Team changes

After three and a half years our employee of the first hour, Ulrike Braiger, leaves to take over a new job in the youth welfare office. She is succeeded by the master carpenter Mathias Link (right) with his colleague from previous projects, the social pedagogue and actor Dirk Dreissen. Welcome!

Team development with social commitment

For Simone Kehr and her team at Daimler AG, the project day was “a unique and enriching experience” with the young people of the Fliegerwerkstatt. In mixed groups, four bicycles were again made to traffic. By the way, a nice exchange took place between individual adults and adolescents, who can work beyond this day.

The Fokker gets a new look

The restoration of the Dreidecker under the guidance of Günter Hujer has started. According to the original painting the Fokker is revised by our young people.
