During the autumn holidays students from various surrounding schools designed their own lightweight rockets from PET bottles and could then start on the old airfield at Tempelhof. Filled with water and pumped air, they developed a range of up to 25 meters!
Who ever needed a break between the construction phase, was able to let off steam in the soccer field.
A graffiti project about fly might provide us with some initial templates for our Fliegerwerkstatt logo. We also offer a PET-rocket workshop – and let start the first unmanned flying objects on the Tempelhof Field! In the autumn holidays the Fliegerwerkstatt is open Monday to Friday from 14:00 to 19:00 o’clock for our airplane enthusiastic youngsters.
has given us in addition to a cash donation a bulging tool trolley! And then came a truck with tables, cabinets, office furniture, which we urgently needed for our institution. Many thanks! The office of our airmen workshop team is thus excellently equipped, and our young people can already start with the first technical exercises.
There is still a lot to do: the sanitary facilities are being built, lines installed, doors fitted and walls painted. Jason got support by Merlin, who uses the time before his start of training to help us. During the breaks, the two can already try out the new basketball hoop, which is installed from today and will make in between for some variety.
In addition to the socio-pedagogical director Ulrike Braiger, Ole Voss will take over the functional training part from September 1st. As a carpenter, blacksmith, stage and set designer, he brings a lot of technical skills, which he wants to pass on to our young people.
The renovation works are still in full swing, we get support from our first intern: Jason. Before he can screw on old aircrafts, he assists electricians, painters and masons at their works. And learns a lot about the processes and activities in construction.
Ulrike Braiger starts work. The experienced social worker will conduct from now on the Fliegerwerkstatt. In front of her is a wonderful job that we know in the best of hands: The construction of Germany’s first aviation workshop.
The plans for the renovation of the first premises exist. Now the must be coordinated with the project managers and landlords of Tempelhof.
Site visit with the architects and layout planning. First, we must renovate toilets and showers.
We receive the keys for our rooms. Now the dream is still to some extent true.
